WHAT TYPE OF INFLUENCE ARE YOU?

"Woe to the world for such temptations to sin and influences to do wrong! It is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the person on whose account or by whom the temptation comes!

While growing up as a kid together with my siblings, the television had a great impact on us. In that we always look forward to those interesting, educative and entertaining children's programs. Sesame street is one of those programes i can never forget as a child. We always look forward to it beacuse it is educative and entertaining at the same time. I also remember Big foot and Yboy, The Muppet show, Voltron the defender of the universe, Alli cat, Ranger Ranget, Speed Racer I can go on and on. All these programs were harmless. You can be sure your children are in safe hands with them. We even had what was called "children's belt" then. That is the hours when kids can watch decent stuff on tv.

Its sad to say that we don't have all that anymore. Our television stations are no longer sensitive to our children's need for educative and entertaining programs. I have to keep monitoring what my children watch even after school hours. No more children's belt, we have to depend on satellite tv for cartoons to engage the kids these days some of which are either demonic or subtly arousing sexual desires in our children. Its also sad to know that homosexuality is gradually creeping into our children's cartoon world. There is a campaign for lesbianism in one of the most interesting Disney cartoon "Frozen."

What I have come to discover generally nowadays is that some people or organisations are all out to lead people astray. Especially children. And God is not taking it lightly at all. In Matthew 18:6 Jesus said "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in and acknowledge and cleave to Me to stumble and sin [that is, who entices him or hinders him in right conduct or thought], it would be better [more expedient and profitable or advantageous] for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be sunk in the depth of the sea." 

Life is all about impact. Whether you like it or not you are impacting somebody either positively or negatively by your actions or inactions. So what type of impact are you? Are you setting a good example or you are mentoring people for destruction. You just cannot sit on the fence my friend. Somebody is looking at you and learning from you. So be careful!

Why you need to be careful? There is a curse on whosoever leads others to do evil. Judas Iscariot is a good example. He hung himself after leading them to arrest Jesus. We cannot stop temptations or other evil acts. But Jesus in the scripture above promises destruction to those who influences and tempts people to sin. God is not taking it easy with evil influencers. So be careful!

Lets be a good example to everyone, especially to children. They learn faster by what they see, our actions. You can start being a positive impact by first giving your life to Christ. Then you will begin to influence your world for Him.
