QUIET TIME

DEVOTIONAL
TEXT: MARK 1:23-39

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1: 35 KJV

Judge is a typical example of a busy man. He leaves home as early as 4a.m. and comes back as late as 11p.m. He is either too late for work to pray in the morning or too tired to pray when he comes back in the night. Having been jobless for 5years since graduation his job means a lot to him. This has now become a regular routine for Judge who never misses his quiet time before he got this breakthrough job.

We all can identify with Judge. We are normally robbed of the quality time we need to spend with our heavenly father (praying and meditating on His word) due to His wonderful mercies which we have experienced in form of one enlargement or the other in different areas of our lives. So can we say that God had done wrong by giving you your breakthrough after several years of waiting? Is your breakthrough breaking you away from God? Better watch it. This is a subtle means the devil uses to quench the fire of faith in many believers.

Jesus also had a very busy itinerary while on earth. People were always flocking around him for healing and deliverance. Even though He was God in human form He understood the importance of prayer and woke up very early to commune with God. How much more should we? No relationship ever survives without communication. If indeed you are in a relationship with God, prayer is your means of communicating with Him and The word of God is His own means of communicating with you. Psalm 55:17. The devil is always looking for ways to prevent you from praying but you got to be smarter than him. Matthew 26:41, 1Thessalonians 5:17.  Even though God knows all about your needs, He still wants you to open your mouth and talk to him about it. Matthew 6:8. It’s all about maintaining a healthy relationship with Him. And a healthy relationship will only thrive in communication.

Prayer
Oh Lord, help me maintain a healthy relationship with you. May I always commune with you on a daily basis in Jesus name.  Amen.

When do you have your quiet time? Does waking up early really work for you?

How do you feel when you are being ignored by a loved one? Are you ignoring God and thinking He understands?

Do you know how to have a fulfilling quiet time?
